Ouzoud Waterfalls Day Trip: Itinerary

Morning: Marrakech – Olive Groves – Ouzoud

To begin with, your driver picks you up at your hotel or riad at about 8:00. Then you drive north-east across the plain, with a coffee stop on the way. Later, the road climbs into red hills and olive groves. Soon you reach the village of Ouzoud at about 11:00.

After that, you start at the viewpoints above the canyon. Then you walk down the steps and the path to the foot of the falls, past small shops and mills. Meanwhile, rainbows often appear in the spray in the late morning. If you like, you can also hire a local guide for a longer walk along the river.

Then you can take a short boat ride on the pool, close to the falls. In addition, the Barbary macaques live in the trees around the path. However, please do not feed them, because human food makes them sick.

Later, you have lunch on a terrace with views of the falls, for example a tagine or grilled meat.

Afterwards, you climb back up the other side of the canyon, so you see the falls from a new angle. Finally, you leave at about 15:00 and drive back to Marrakech. As a result, you reach your riad at about 18:00.

Expert tip from our driver-guides

Visit from March to June for the strongest flow, because the falls are smaller at the end of summer. In addition, wear trainers, since the steps can be wet and slippery. Also, keep small coins for the boat ride and the guide. Finally, keep bags closed near the macaques.
