4 Day Desert Trip from Agadir: Itinerary
Day 1: Agadir – Taliouine – Foum Zguid – Erg Chigaga
To begin with, your driver picks you up at your hotel or at Agadir airport in the morning. Then you drive inland to Taliouine, where you taste saffron tea and learn how this precious spice is grown.
Then, after lunch, you continue to Foum Zguid, where the asphalt ends. From here, your 4×4 also crosses Lake Iriqui, a dry lake bed, towards the dunes. In the late afternoon, you also ride a camel into Erg Chigaga for the sunset. Finally, dinner and Berber drums are waiting at your desert camp.
Day 2: Erg Chigaga – M’Hamid – Zagora – Agdz
If you wake early, climb a dune to watch the sunrise. After breakfast, you drive across the desert to M’Hamid, the gateway to the Sahara.
Then you follow the Draa Valley north to Zagora for lunch. Along the way, you also see palm groves, earthen kasbahs and Berber villages. Finally, you reach Agdz and spend a quiet night in a hotel.
Day 3: Agdz – Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou
Then, after breakfast, you cross the Tizi n’Tinififft pass to Ouarzazate, the film capital of Morocco. There you visit Kasbah Taourirt and, if you like, a film studio.
Later in the afternoon, you continue to Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Later, you walk up through the earthen lanes and watch the sunset over the ksar. Finally, you sleep in a hotel near the village.
Day 4: Ait Ben Haddou – Taznakht – Agadir
Then, after breakfast, you start the drive back to Agadir. To begin with, you stop in Taznakht, where women weave Berber carpets by hand. Then you cross the Anti-Atlas through quiet villages and rocky hills.
Finally, you reach Agadir in the late afternoon, and your driver drops you at your hotel.
