5 Day Merzouga Tour: Itinerary
Day 1: Marrakech – Ait Ben Haddou – Dades Valley
To begin with, your driver picks you up in Marrakech at about 8:00. Then you cross the High Atlas on the Tichka pass and visit Ait Ben Haddou. After lunch, you also pass Ouarzazate and the Valley of Roses. In the evening, you reach your hotel in the Dades Valley.
Day 2: Dades – Todra Gorge – Merzouga
In the morning, you walk between the high cliffs of the Todra gorge. Then you drive east past Erfoud to Merzouga. Later, you ride a camel into the Erg Chebbi dunes for sunset, before dinner and music at the desert camp.
Day 3: A Full Day in the Merzouga Desert
After sunrise on the dunes, you explore the desert by 4×4. Along the way, you also visit nomad families and the village of Khamlia, known for its Gnawa music. In the afternoon, you can try sandboarding, before a second night in camp.
Day 4: Merzouga – Draa Valley – Ouarzazate
Then you leave the dunes and drive west through Rissani and the oases of the south. After that, you follow the Draa Valley, with its long palm groves and kasbahs. In the evening, you sleep in a hotel in Ouarzazate.
Day 5: Ouarzazate – Tichka Pass – Marrakech
Finally, you cross the High Atlas again, with stops at the viewpoints. As a result, you reach Marrakech in the early afternoon, with time to relax.
