Knowing when to book a Morocco tour can save you money and secure the best riads and desert camps. In general, the earlier you book for high season, the more choice you have. Here is our booking calendar, based on years of planning private trips.
How Far Ahead to Book
| Travel period | Book ahead | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Christmas and New Year | 6 to 10 weeks | Desert camps and riads fill first |
| Easter and spring (March to May) | 4 to 8 weeks | Peak season for the desert |
| Autumn (September to November) | 3 to 6 weeks | Popular and mild |
| Summer | 1 to 3 weeks | Quieter, but hot in the desert |
| Winter (January to February) | 2 to 4 weeks | Quiet, sunny and good value |
Best Months to Travel
Before you decide when to book a Morocco tour, choose your season. To begin with, March to May and September to November are the best months for most of Morocco, because the weather is mild in the desert and the cities. Meanwhile, winter is sunny but cold at night, and summer is very hot in the Sahara. Also read the Merzouga weather by month.
Holiday Tours Book Out First
In fact, the most requested trips for the holidays are our Christmas tour in Morocco and the New Year desert tour. Therefore, contact us early if you travel in late December.
Last-Minute Bookings
On the other hand, private day trips can often be booked a few days ahead, for example the Agafay day trip or the Atlas Mountains day trip. For multi-day tours, ask us, because we can sometimes arrange a trip within a week.
